The Michigan Lottery and the National Council on Problem Gambling (“NCPG”) are urging customers not to buy lottery tickets for minors (anyone under the age of 18) this holiday season.   Per a recent post on the Lottery website:

Please remember: Lottery Tickets are not for children. . . .Research shows that children who gamble run a higher risk of developing gambling problems as adults. Please be mindful and practice responsible giving when gifting lottery tickets this holiday season.

The NCPG began its Lottery Holiday Responsible Gaming Program 10 years ago with the support of McGill University, and the program has received endorsements from the World Lottery Association, North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) and the European Lottery Association (EL).  Michigan is one of 43 North American Lotteries participating in the campaign.
