BetMGM Launches Shared Liquidity for Multi-State Online Poker in Michigan and New Jersey

According to a press release issued by the Michigan Gaming Control Board (“MGCB”) has authorized BetMGM to enable shared liquidity for multi-state internet poker games, allowing players from Michigan and New Jersey to compete together. This new development, effective immediately, is a significant milestone in the state’s online gaming expansion, made possible through Michigan’s participation in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (“MSIGA”).

The decision allows players in both states to join larger, more competitive online poker tables, enhancing the gaming experience by offering a wider pool of participants. BetMGM, the official online poker platform for MGM Grand Detroit, will now offer popular poker games such as No Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, and 7-Card Stud, among others.

MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating, “This authorization represents a significant step forward in the development of online gaming within our state boundaries. We’re confident this partnership will enhance the gaming experience for Michigan players and help drive growth in the industry.”

BetMGM’s submission for shared liquidity was approved after a review process, and the company is committed to maintaining a safe and secure gaming environment in compliance with all regulations. Michigan online poker players now have the opportunity to compete alongside those in New Jersey, joining the growing list of states offering multi-state online poker play.

The MGCB has previously authorized multi-state poker for other operators, including World Series of Poker and PokerStars, and this expansion is expected to further boost the state’s online gaming ecosystem. Michigan joined the MSIGA in May 2022, which enables players to compete in multi-state poker games with participants in Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, and West Virginia.
